Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Sparxx (ranked 4320 p4p, 1415 weight class) and Scott Minerva (ranked 450 p4p, 161 weight class). Gary Sparxx has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 14 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gary Sparxx! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Minerva! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the liver by Sparxx. Beautiful body shot. Minerva takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
It looks like Scott Minerva has been cut. Sparxx just misses with a punch to the body.
Sparxx throws a hook to the side of Minerva's head but Minerva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A combination from Sparxx does no damage. Minerva defending well as Sparxx loads up on a big left hand. Sparxx loads up on a big right hand but Minerva slips the punch. Sparxx moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Sparxx's jab looks to have found its range, popping Minerva under the eye. Minerva slips under a jab. Sparxx keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A lazy left from Sparxx finds it's target. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Minerva has closed the distance and engaged Sparxx in a clinch.
Sparxx breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sparxx throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Gary Sparxx is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Minerva moves into the clinch successfully.
Our sources have told us that Sparxx has been working on his elbows in the gym. Sparxx working hard to break the clinch. Sparxx's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gary Sparxx seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sparxx lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Minerva dives in and scores a takedown into Sparxx's guard. Sparxx uses the ropes to get back to his feet.
Minerva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sparxx to the mat! Sparxx manages to get full guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Minerva passes easily into side control. Nice work. Sparxx is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Minerva asserts his dominance and retains side control. Sparxx prevents Minerva from moving into mount.

Minerva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Minerva misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Minerva wants to control but Sparxx is keeping him busy.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Minerva on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Sparxx looks to throw the jab but Minerva is out of range. Minerva looks for a takedown but Sparxx sprawls well. Minerva tries to close the distance and clinch but Sparxx swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A nice combination there by Sparxx.
Sparxx is looking to slow Minerva down with leg kicks. Sparxx misses with a straight left. Minerva tries for a takedown but Sparxx sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gary Sparxx has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Minerva.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Sparxx cracks Minerva with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sparxx has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Minerva to stand back up!
Minerva is rocked! BOOM! Sparxx lands a beautiful left hook that drops Minerva. Minerva tries to recover but Sparxx is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Minerva lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gary Sparxx! Gary Sparxx spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
