Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Derrick Barnes !
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barnes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Walker sprawls well. Walker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barnes gets slowly back to his feet.
Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Walker moves away.
Walker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Barnes ducks under a wild hook from Walker.
Barnes looks for a takedown but Walker sprawls well.
Walker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Barnes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Walker.

Barnes gets a takedown into half guard.
Barnes is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Walker with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Barnes stops Walker from getting back to his feet.
Barnes thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Walker's head.
Barnes scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Walker has hold of Barnes 's hands but Barnes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Walker kicks off Barnes and gets to his feet.
Walker throws a looping overhand right but Barnes ducks down to avoid it.

and Barnes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Barnes .
Barnes is standing up over Walker. Walker looks to escape but Barnes dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barnes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Barnes in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Walker takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Walker is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Walker bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Oh Walker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chief Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barnes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Barnes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Barnes lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Walker quite badly. Walker pulls Barnes in close trying to recover. Barnes postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Walker on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Walker doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derrick Barnes !
In his post fight interview, Derrick Barnes started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
