Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Okafor (ranked 1955 p4p, 2835 weight class) and Roman Ship (ranked 218 p4p, 305 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Roman Ship was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Okafor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roman Ship! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ship tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Okafor was well out of range. Poor timing from Ship. Ship tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ship swings and misses with a hook to the body.

It looks like Roman Ship has been cut. Okafor avoids the head kick by Ship.
Ship throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Okafor counter with a right hand. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ship. A counter left hand to the body from Okafor misses its target. Ship tries to land a front kick but Okafor steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Okafor was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Okafor connects with a body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ship looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Okafor swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Ship walks into a jab. Roman Ship seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch lands to the side of Okafor 's head but he takes it in his stride. Ship tries to land a leg kick but Okafor saw it coming and moves away.
Okafor was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Ship wants to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ship throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Okafor connects with a right hand. Ship shakes it off.
That has opened up Roman Ship's cut even more. Ship wants to clinch and Okafor counters with a nice right hand that sends Ship toppling to the canvas! Ship scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Okafor finish him?!
Ship is rocked! Ship misses with a body shot
and Okafor counters with a big left hand that crumples Ship! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Okafor! John Okafor seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
