Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Souza (ranked 4786 p4p, 3069 weight class) and Kama Pondey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Pondey gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Souza pulls guard effortlessly.
Souza is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pondey is staying active underneath Souza, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Well, if Souza is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Souza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pondey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Pondey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souza. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pondey had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Souza defends it easily.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Pondey has a takedown stuffed.
Souza throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pondey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Souza changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pondey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Souza controls the position.
Souza stands up and beckons Pondey to his feet.
Souza shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pondey but Pondey pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pondey gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Souza struggles to land a body shot inside as Pondey controls his hands.
Souza is trying to pull guard but Pondey has him pressed against the cage.
Pondey breaks from the clinch.
Souza will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fight stays on the outside here - Souza looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
