PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Drnold (ranked 2953 p4p, 2820 weight class) and Keith Kenneth Ferkingstad (ranked 356 p4p, 345 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Keith Kenneth Ferkingstad!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.

Drnold swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Keith Kenneth Ferkingstad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drnold slips under a jab from Ferkingstad.
Ferkingstad misses with a lunging right hand
and Drnold makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ferkingstad clobbers Drnold with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Sam Drnold has been cut.

It looked like Drnold was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ferkingstad.
A jab from Ferkingstad finds it's way through Drnold's defenses.

Ferkingstad cracks Drnold with an uppercut from hell and Drnold crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Ferkingstad's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Ferkingstad won't allow Drnold to sweep him here.

Ferkingstad is looking to work his way around to Drnold's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Ferkingstad goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Drnold turns into him and now he's in Ferkingstad's guard.

Ferkingstad has his foot on Drnold's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Drnold works his way back into a safe position though.

Drnold avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Drnold got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ferkingstad has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Drnold has managed to get both his arms back between Ferkingstad's legs - danger averted.
Drnold controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Drnold knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ferkingstad on the ground.
Ferkingstad is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ferkingstad can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Drnold controls the pace.

Ferkingstad is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Drnold defends well.

Our spies down at at Tosen's Home for Lost Boys inform us that Ferkingstad has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Ferkingstad working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Drnold doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ferkingstad is tightening it up a little... Drnold has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Drnold reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Drnold taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ferkingstad!
