Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leyte Gulf (ranked 2932 p4p, 2180 weight class) and Darrel Petersen (ranked 379 p4p, 294 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gulf might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to For Heavy Metal we will die!. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Darrel Petersen!

Gulf appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Darrel Petersen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Petersen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

You can see the frustration on Petersen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Petersen feints and as Gulf raises his hands in defense, Petersen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gulf bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Petersen's guard.

Petersen wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Petersen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gulf quickly recovers to half guard.

Petersen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gulf keeps working.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gulf throws a looping overhand right but Petersen ducks down to avoid it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Petersen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Petersen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gulf swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
