PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Aokison (ranked 1212 p4p, 544 weight class) and Starling Silva (ranked 181 p4p, 78 weight class). Aokison comes to the cage accompanied by Caroline. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryu Aokison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Starling Silva!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.

Silva shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Aokison loads up on a big right hand but Silva slips the punch.
Silva lands with a nice body punch.
Silva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Aokison.
A little jabbing left from Silva on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Nice uppercut there from Silva.
Silva fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Aokison manages to avoid it.
Aokison cracks Silva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Silva shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Aokison tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aokison fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silva to the ground. Aokison is now in Silva's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Silva enables Aokison to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Silva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Silva holds on and takes a little breather.

Aokison slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Aokison seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ryu Aokison will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Silva ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Aokison's jaw. Aokison's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Silva does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
