Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Don Pepe (ranked 4441 p4p, 4595 weight class) and Robbie Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 414 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Pepe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robbie Lawler! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pepe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Pepe was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Robbie Lawler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lawler with a lazy takedown attempt and Pepe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Lawler changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pepe tries to avoid it but Lawler manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pepe to the ground. Pepe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Don Pepe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robbie Lawler. Lawler fails with a takedown attempt. Pepe avoids a kick to the body.
It looked like Pepe was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Lawler. Lawler tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pepe swivels and escapes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lawler shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Lawler fails to land the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Pepe. No joy for Lawler on that attempt. Pepe moves out of range as Lawler throws a body kick.
Lawler takes a swing at Pepe's ribcage but misses. Pepe was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Lawler closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pepe quickly recovers to half guard. Pepe actively working from the bottom here. Pepe with the active half guard here but Lawler passes nicely into side control. Pepe dodges the ground and pound from Lawler. Lawler has hold of Pepe's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Pepe tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lawler cranks the arm and Pepe screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Pepe, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Robbie Lawler!
