Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Taylor (ranked 4273 p4p, 4601 weight class) and Miguel Madson (ranked 485 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Taylor is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Madson! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taylor is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Madson lands a nice shot to the body.
Taylor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Madson. A combination from Madson does no damage. A lazy body kick from Taylor and Madson counters with a one-two to the body. Taylor tries to clinch up but Madson circles away and keeps his distance. Madson wants to clinch but Taylor slips to the side and Taylor counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Madson! Madson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Taylor wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Taylor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Taylor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! This has been an exciting period of action! Madson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Taylor's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor stops Madson from getting back to his feet.
Taylor escapes and gets back to his feet. Madson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Taylor as he avoids it easily. Taylor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Taylor takes a body punch but keeps moving. Madson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Taylor circles away. Steve Taylor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Madson. Madson looks winded! Madson clinches up against the cage. Taylor is pressed up against the cage. Madson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Taylor down to the mat. Taylor avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Taylor gets in close and instigates a clinch. Taylor wants to break the clinch but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taylor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Madson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Taylor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Madson somewhat. Taylor appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Taylor gets a double leg takedown into Madson's guard. Taylor gets to his feet - Madson follows without any prompting. Taylor throws a right hand that Madson ducks under and follows up with a left that Madson also avoids with ease. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Madson drives through with a takedown into guard. Taylor looking for a guillotine here but Madson defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Taylor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Taylor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Madson's guard. Taylor wants to pass the guard but Madson is keeping the position. Madson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Taylor controlling from the top position. Taylor wants to control from the top but Madson keeps moving. Taylor not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Steve Taylor will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! Madson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Taylor defends it nicely. A counter left hand to the body from Taylor misses its target. Madson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Madson tries to clinch up. Madson shoots in but Taylor avoids the takedown attempt easily. Steve Taylor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Madson. Taylor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Madson was covering up waiting for the punch and Taylor finishes the takedown easily into guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Madson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Taylor is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor with a nice head shot there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Taylor trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Taylor with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Taylor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Madson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Taylor works over Madson with some ground and pound from guard. Taylor has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Madson working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Taylor passes into half guard. Taylor controlling the pace. Madson tries to roll over but Taylor keeps him under control. Taylor not doing much here.
Madson tries to kick Taylor off but Taylor keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taylor lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Taylor looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Taylor is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Madson trying to control from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Madson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Taylor circles away quickly and effectively. Taylor looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Taylor stuffs the takedown. The fight moves into the clinch position. Taylor gets a trip takedown into half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Madson has hold of Taylor's hands but Taylor slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Taylor frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Taylor dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round! Madson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Taylor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Madson. Taylor closes the distance and pushes Madson back into the cage. Taylor has Madson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Madson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Taylor is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Madson to keep the fight standing. Taylor successfully pulls guard.

Madson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Taylor is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Madson working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Taylor has passed into half guard!

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Taylor's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Taylor trying to pass the guard but Madson defending well. Taylor decides to return to a standing position. Madson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Taylor pinned against the cage. Taylor gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Now he's in top in Madson's guard. Taylor slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Madson is looking to stand up but Taylor isn't so interested in that idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taylor is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Taylor is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Taylor with a nice head shot there. Miguel Madson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Taylor seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! Steve Taylor showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Taylor, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
