Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Justin Purcell (ranked 2680 p4p, 23450 weight class) and Bob Brown (ranked 290 p4p, 497 weight class). Justin Purcell has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Purcell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Brown! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Purcell defends it nicely. Brown rushes Purcell and presses him up against the cage. Purcell lands a knee to the body.
Brown is trying to pull guard but Purcell turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Brown drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Purcell gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Justin Purcell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Brown. Brown turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Brown manages to end up in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Purcell is not content to let Brown control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brown stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Purcell sprawls well. Purcell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brown gets slowly back to his feet. Purcell jabbing away but nothing is landing. Brown fails to land the takedown. Brown moves in looking to clinch but Purcell pushes him off. Brown tries to close the distance and clinch but Purcell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Brown goes for a double leg but Purcell avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Purcell continues to drive forward. Purcell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Brown forces Purcell back against the cage and clinches. Brown tries to pull guard but Purcell holds him up against the cage and eventually Brown drops back down to his feet.
Brown is looking to control Purcell's arms but Purcell gets an underhook and turns him. Now Brown has his back to the cage. Brown tries to pull guard but Purcell won't allow it.
Brown is trying to drag Purcell to the mat but Purcell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Brown jumps into guard, dragging Purcell to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Purcell defends well. Brown is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Purcell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Brown is proving hard to escape from. Purcell trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom. Brown has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Purcell trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Brown shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Purcell as he avoids it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Brown tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Purcell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Purcell with a hook. Brown closes the distance and clinches. Purcell is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Brown is defending well for now. Brown blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Purcell breaks from the clinch.
Brown takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Purcell but Purcell pushes him off and we're back to square one. Purcell throws a quick inside leg kick. Brown shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Purcell sprawls well. Purcell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brown gets slowly back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Purcell is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Brown. Brown feints the counter takedown. Purcell connects with the punch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Justin Purcell dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Purcell tries to land a leg kick but Brown saw it coming and moves away.
Purcell pushes Brown up against the cage in a clinch. Brown on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Brown lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Purcell backwards. Purcell breaks from the clinch.

Brown shoots in and bounces Purcell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Purcell wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Brown manages to pass to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brown is trying to control the action in half guard but Purcell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Purcell trying to control but Brown postures up.
Purcell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brown can do to turn this around? Brown works his foot free and advances to mount. Purcell sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Purcell pushes Brown off looking to stand but Brown dives back in and keeps control.

Brown presses Purcell against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Purcell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nice sprawl there from Purcell as Brown shoots in. That was a close second round but I would say that Justin Purcell will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Purcell slaps away a takedown attempt from Brown, before circling back to the center of the mat. Bob Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A nice leg kick lands there from Purcell. Brown tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Purcell defends well and Brown ends up having to push Purcell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Purcell lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Purcell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat. Justin Purcell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Brown. Purcell scores with a jab. Brown acknowledges it with a nod of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brown. Brown instigates a clinch. Purcell unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Purcell seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Brown can turn it around. Purcell is leaning against Brown and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Brown takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Purcell throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Brown blocks it with crossed arms. Purcell is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Brown is defending well for now. Purcell misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Brown.

Brown pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Purcell tumbling to the mat - Brown dives into Purcell's guard. Brown lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Purcell struggling a bit here. Brown slows the pace down. Purcell is looking for a sweep. Purcell tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Purcell tries to get back to half guard but can't. Brown goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Purcell is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Purcell pivots, looking for a leg kick but Brown is out of range and Purcell settles back down. Justin Purcell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Good work by Brown as he checks the leg kick. Purcell throws a big shot that misses. Despite the aggression on Brown's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Brown uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Purcell. Nice defenses there by Brown. A punch combination from Purcell misses. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Purcell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Brown is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Brown throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Purcell tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Brown is in Purcell's guard. Brown passes easily into side control. Nice work. Brown wants to control but Purcell is keeping him busy. Brown takes a little break here. Purcell wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Brown cracks Purcell with a big right hand but Purcell just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Bob Brown. I think Purcell has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
