PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jakub Zabransky (ranked 4515 p4p, 4564 weight class) and Duke Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zabransky kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is bomba. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Savage fails with an attempt to clinch.

Savage lands a big head kick that sends Zabransky tumbling to the mat! Savage takes a step backwards and waves Zabransky back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Jakub Zabransky has been cut.
Savage moves in looking to clinch but Zabransky pushes him off.

Zabransky shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Savage manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Zabransky slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Savage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zabransky. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Zabransky wants to stand but Savage is controlling his posture from full guard.
Zabransky slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Zabransky closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Savage did well to prevent Zabransky getting side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Savage is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Zabransky asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Zabransky works to advance to full mount. Savage defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Zabransky fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jakub Zabransky will probably get the nod.

Savage wants to clinch

and Zabransky counters with a single leg into guard. Savage didn't expect that.
Zabransky is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Savage wants to get back to his feet but Zabransky is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Savage is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zabransky stands up from Savage's guard - Zabransky perhaps looking for a knockout.

Savage throws a head kick but Zabransky moves out of range.
Savage misses with a head kick.

Zabransky drives through with a takedown into Savage's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Savage is breathing heavily.
Zabransky is stalling in the full guard.
Savage has momentary wrist control but Zabransky slips an elbow through the middle.

Zabransky forces his way into half guard.
Zabransky tries to stand but can't do so whilst Savage controls his leg.
Savage looks like he's trying to stand up.

Zabransky stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Savage to get to his feet.

Zabransky fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Savage sprawls well initially but Zabransky persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Zabransky working over Savage with some ground and pound. Savage looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Zabransky lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Zabransky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Zabransky seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jakub Zabransky overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Savage has hold of Zabransky's hands but Zabransky slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Savage is looking to get back to is feet but Zabransky passes into side control.

Zabransky stands up and beckons Savage to his feet.
Zabransky is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Savage can do to turn this around?
Savage ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zabransky moves away.

Savage fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Savage is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Zabransky changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Savage looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Savage bucks up and tries to throw Zabransky off but instead Zabransky has got his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Zabransky is cranking Savage's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Savage! He's tightened the choke and Savage is tapping out!

A pretty intense looking Jakub Zabransky took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
