Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ellis Rowards (ranked 3065 p4p, 24472 weight class) and Pat Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pat Kelly has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ellis Rowards's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ellis Rowards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pat Kelly! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rowards avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kelly lands a jab. Kelly throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Rowards takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Rowards fails in his attempt to clinch. Kelly uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rowards has time to react. Rowards takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Kelly cracks Rowards with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Rowards shoots and misses and Kelly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Kelly is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Kelly lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rowards closes the distance and clinches. Kelly is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rowards is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kelly to the mat. Kelly regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Rowards landing with the ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kelly can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rowards would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Rowards works a leg free and moves into half guard. Rowards content to control rather than advance. Kelly is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rowards looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Kelly looking for submissions off his back. Rowards is controlling the pace.
Rowards scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelly looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Kelly thuds a left hand into Rowards's body. Rowards gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rowards blocking some punches.
Kelly tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Rowards's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Kelly listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Rowards throws a right and a left that Kelly avoids nicely. Kelly scores with a jab to the body. Kelly has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. No luck for Rowards with that takedown attempt. Rowards closes the distance looking to clinch and Rowards takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Kelly shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rowards eats them both and turns towards Kelly to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Kelly throws a shot to the body.

and Kelly counters with a right hand to the body. Kelly throws a good cross that connects.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pat Kelly dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Kelly connects with a body shot that sends Rowards's belly button to the back. Kelly connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rowards momentarily.
Rowards takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Kelly stuffs the takedown attempt from Rowards. Rowards gets slowly back to his feet. Kelly lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rowards backs up against the cage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kelly. Rowards does a little dance to reset his feet. Kelly is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Kelly lands a nice shot to the body.
Rowards has Kelly up against the cage in a clinch.
Kelly is trying to push Rowards away but Rowards has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Rowards is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kelly is defending well for now. Kelly goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rowards tries to score a body lock takedown but Kelly shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kelly taking a breather.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ellis Rowards. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kelly misses with the head strike.

Rowards pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. We've been told by Rowards's head coaches at Cozad MMA New York that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Rowards is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kelly. Kelly lands a nice shot to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rowards. Kelly swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Kelly lands a nice looking body shot.
Kelly has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rowards walks into a jab. Pat Kelly is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kelly lands a nice shot that snaps Rowards's head back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rowards keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rowards takes a shot right to the bread basket. Pat Kelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rowards shoots in and drives through. Kelly sprawls well. Rowards fails to land the takedown. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kelly throws a combination. Rowards tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rowards is rocked! Rowards walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Oh Rowards is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A looping hook to the body misses from Kelly. Rowards does a little dance to reset his feet. A quick step to the side and Rowards tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Rowards seems to have got his legs back now. Rowards clinches. Kelly is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Rowards jumps guard but Kelly stands there with Rowards around his waist. Rowards gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelly is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. A body shot lands from Kelly.
Kelly throws a head punch that misses. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Kelly lands with a light punch inside. Kelly misses with a hook from the clinch. Rowards blocks an uppercut.
Kelly tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Kelly lands with a left to the head. Kelly blocks an elbow strike. Kelly fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Rowards breaks the clinch.
Rowards tries to close the distance and clinch but Kelly swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kelly digs a good body shot into Rowards's ribs. Ellis Rowards is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A left and a right from Kelly both land. Nice combination. Nice takedown defense from Kelly. No joy for Rowards on that attempt. Kelly doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Kelly scores with a nice right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rowards keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kelly lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Rowards misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kelly lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rowards at a distance.
Kelly tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rowards swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rowards takes one on the button. Kelly lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Kelly lands with a nice body punch. Rowards gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kelly. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pat Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Rowards's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Kelly lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Donk. Kelly catches Rowards right on the button with a cross. Kelly punishes Rowards's body with a nice straight punch. Pat Kelly seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kelly's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rowards under the eye. Rowards throws a leg kick that is checked and Kelly counters with a nice uppercut. Kelly throws a shot to the body.
Kelly connects with a body shot that sends Rowards's belly button to the back. Kelly ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Horrible takedown attempt by Rowards or perhaps it was just good defense by Kelly, which made it look bad. Rowards throws a head kick but Kelly moves out of range.
Kelly throws out a counter right but Rowards avoids it with no problem. Rowards looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kelly cracks Rowards with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rowards shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Kelly trying to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rowards passes into half guard. Rowards tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Kelly trying to hold on to Rowards's head to control him but Rowards postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rowards winds up and cracks Kelly with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Kelly is trying to get back to full guard. Rowards is taking a breather. Kelly says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Rowards's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Kelly is looking to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rowards decides to stand up. Rowards throws a head kick but Kelly moves out of range.

Ellis Rowards has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rowards with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

And that's the end of the fight! Pat Kelly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Kelly winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
