PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armand Christophe (ranked 197 p4p, 321 weight class) and Jamie James (ranked 31 p4p, 53 weight class). Christophe comes to the cage accompanied by Shadows. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamie James!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christophe throws a head kick but James moves out of range.
Christophe just misses with a punch to the body.
James looks to land a combination but Christophe avoids it well.
A little feinted left hand from Christophe on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Christophe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A cross from Christophe lands.

Christophe closes the distance and clinches.
James creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Christophe's defenses.

It looks like Armand Christophe has been cut.
James tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Christophe's elbow.

Christophe blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Christophe misses with a hook from the clinch.
James misses with a shot to the kidneys.
I was talking to Christophe's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Christophe ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Christophe no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
James pushes down on Christophe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
James is stalling here. Christophe is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! James seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Christophe has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Christophe is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
James is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Christophe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Christophe's back!

James walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Christophe checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

James throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
James throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Christophe stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Christophe was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
James throws a poor cross that misses
and James takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
James moves away from the strike by Christophe.
James looks like he wants to counter punch here.

James lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jamie James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James throws a powerful right kick. Christophe tried to block low but the kick was high! Christophe was taken right off of his feet! James jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
