PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stirling Moloch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Gamble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gamble has chosen Parasitic by Psyclon Nine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stirling Moloch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patrick Gamble!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gamble.

Moloch drives through with a takedown into guard.
Moloch trying to control the position from guard on top but Gamble is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gamble controlling Moloch's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moloch wants to pass the guard but Gamble is keeping the position.
Gamble keeping moving, preventing Moloch from controlling successfully.
Gamble pulls Moloch in close to his closed guard and prevents Moloch from doing any damage or advancing position.
Gamble tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gamble has Moloch pulled in close to control his posture.

Gamble wants to sweep here but Moloch controlling him for the moment.
Moloch throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gamble works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Gamble looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moloch is one step ahead there.
Moloch trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gamble has control of Moloch's left arm, preventing Moloch from doing any damage.
Gamble throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gamble is pulling down on Moloch's head to control his posture.
Moloch looking to pass the guard.

Moloch avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Moloch throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gamble works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gamble shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Moloch's guard.
Gamble passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gamble performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Gamble slips a nice elbow through Moloch's hands, connecting with Moloch's forehead.

Gamble seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Gamble wants to free his trapped foot but Moloch is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Gamble is trying to control the action in half guard but Moloch is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gamble content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Gamble seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Moloch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Moloch has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gamble is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Moloch tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Moloch drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gamble looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Moloch puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Gamble preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Gamble trying to control but Moloch postures up.
Moloch wants to take a breather but Gamble is having none of it.
Gamble tries to roll over but Moloch keeps him under control.
Gamble desperately trying to maintain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Patrick Gamble will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Moloch swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gamble shoots in but Moloch avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Moloch fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gamble fails with a takedown attempt.
Gamble tries to clinch there but Moloch circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moloch darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Gamble gets full guard.

Gamble looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gamble tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Moloch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gamble has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moloch has managed to get both his arms back between Gamble's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gamble drives through with a takedown into guard.
Moloch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gamble's guard.
Gamble looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moloch is one step ahead there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Moloch accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Moloch drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gamble manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Moloch has Gamble in his guard.

Moloch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gamble is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gamble stands and throws Moloch's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gamble trying to control the action but Moloch is working from the bottom.
Gamble remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Moloch tries to improve position but can't.
A control attempt from Moloch but he's now mounted!
Moloch tries to lock up and control but Gamble gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Moloch can't escape the position.

Moloch defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gamble.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gamble working the ground and pound effectively.
Gamble tries to control but Moloch wriggling away.

Gamble jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Moloch manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Moloch is not content to let Gamble control the position.
You can see the frustration on Moloch's face as Gamble controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Gamble showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Gamble closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Gamble shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moloch pinned against the cage. Moloch gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Moloch keeping moving, preventing Gamble from controlling successfully.
Gamble slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Patrick Gamble has got the better of the ground game so far.

Moloch wants to control but Gamble is keeping busy.
Gamble trying to control the action but Moloch is working from the bottom.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gamble thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Moloch's head.

Moloch is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gamble pulls his head out easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Gamble shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Moloch shoots and misses

and Gamble counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gamble with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Gamble pushing down on Moloch's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Gamble is looking for a kimura but Moloch is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gamble to get the leverage.

Gamble's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Moloch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gamble defends well.

Despite being in the dominant position, Patrick Gamble just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gamble closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gamble lands in his opponent's guard.

Well Gamble has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
