Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tomomisan Tsuruta (ranked 557 p4p, 1194 weight class) and Alejandro Scott (ranked 80 p4p, 169 weight class). Scott has chosen Alejandro - Lady Gaga as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomomisan Tsuruta! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alejandro Scott! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scott uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tsuruta.
Scott drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tsuruta manages to work his way to half guard, despite Scott's best efforts. Scott is pressing down on Tsuruta's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tsuruta is holding on for now. Scott is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tsuruta keeps working. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tsuruta keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Tsuruta tries to roll over but Scott keeps him under control. Tsuruta keeping control of the position. Scott prevents Tsuruta from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Scott works his foot free and advances to mount. Scott looking for a guillotine from mount but Tsuruta is having none of it. Tsuruta is looking to improve his position but Scott isn't that keen on the idea. Tsuruta tries to hold on but Scott pushes him away. Scott prevents Tsuruta from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Poor strikes thrown by Scott there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Scott stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Tsuruta connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Tsuruta throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tsuruta lands with a right hand. Tsuruta scores with the left hand. Scott knows he should have avoided that one. Tsuruta thows a left - swing and a miss! Tsuruta lands with an overhand left. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Scott. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Scott takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Scott. Scott looks to land a left hand but Tsuruta moved out of range nicely. Tsuruta misses with a wild body shot. Tsuruta thuds his right hand into Scott's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Scott misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tsuruta scores with a jab to the body. Tsuruta scores with a jab. Scott acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Tsuruta manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Scott on his heels. He'll look to pass Scott's guard now, I'm sure. Tsuruta trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tsuruta lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Scott working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tsuruta. Scott controls Tsuruta momentarily but Tsuruta frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott keeping moving, preventing Tsuruta from controlling successfully. Tsuruta stopping the sweep attempt from Scott. Scott is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tsuruta cracks Scott with a solid left hand. Tsuruta trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tsuruta lands a couple of elbows. Tsuruta trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tsuruta lands a couple of digs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tomomisan Tsuruta dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Tsuruta takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Tsuruta fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Tsuruta connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Scott's hands. Tsuruta is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Scott can do to turn this around? Tsuruta avoids the body shot from Scott.
Tsuruta slips under a jab. Scott's corner calls for a 1-2. Scott obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Tsuruta misses with a jab to the body
and Scott counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Scott misses the jab. Tsuruta swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Scott misses with an uppercut
and Tsuruta counters with a stiff right hand. Tsuruta bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Scott's head backwards. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Good exchange - Tsuruta coming out on top. Scott ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tsuruta moves away. Tsuruta misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Scott to counter with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott throws a hook but Tsuruta avoids it easily. Tomomisan Tsuruta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Scott takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Scott stuffs the takedown attempt from Tsuruta. Tsuruta gets slowly back to his feet. Good standup being displayed there by Tsuruta as he connects with a hook. Tsuruta comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. We've been told by Tsuruta's head coaches at Rings Russia that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Tsuruta jabbing away but nothing is landing. Tsuruta swings for the body but Scott moves out of range.
Tsuruta closes this distance looking for a takedown but Scott circles away. A nice side step and Scott releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Tsuruta jabbing away but nothing is landing. A little jabbing left from Scott on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Tsuruta thows a left - swing and a miss! Tomomisan Tsuruta is winning the standup battle so far. Scott misses the shot to the body. The fighters circle momentarily. Tsuruta darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Scott misses the target. Tsuruta takes a swing at Scott's ribcage but misses. Scott misses with a hook
letting Tsuruta counter with a right hand. Tsuruta digs a good body shot into Scott's ribs. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Tsuruta ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Tsuruta looks to land a left hand but Scott moved out of range nicely. Scott uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tsuruta.

It looks like Tomomisan Tsuruta has been cut. Tsuruta cracks Scott with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Tsuruta misses with a straight right. Scott raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Scott keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tsuruta. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Scott! But no joy. Tsuruta throws a body shot but no joy. Scott rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tsuruta counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott avoids the body shot from Tsuruta.
Scott swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Scott takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Scott bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Scott! But no joy. Tsuruta uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Scott. Tsuruta is looking for a counter combo. Tsuruta slips a jab from Scott. Tsuruta changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Scott might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Scott misses with a hook

Scott doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Scott uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tsuruta. Scott looks like he wants to counter punch here. Tsuruta misses with a looping left. Tsuruta scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Scott doesn't seem bothered though. Tsuruta shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Scott but Scott pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tomomisan Tsuruta. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tsuruta cracks Scott with an open hand slap. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tsuruta is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Scott. Nice shot lands for Scott. Tsuruta ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Tsuruta fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Scott avoids it really well and circles away. Tsuruta sizes up Scott with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Tsuruta moves out of range of the strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tomomisan Tsuruta dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Tomomisan Tsuruta's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Scott throws a jab when Tsuruta was well out of range. Tsuruta cracks Scott with an open hand slap. Tsuruta waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Scott. Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tsuruta.
Scott cracks Tsuruta with a right hand to the side of the head. Scott throws a looping overhand right but Tsuruta ducks down to avoid it. Tsuruta gets a takedown into half guard. Tsuruta thows a huge punch but Scott dodges it nicely.

Tsuruta working over Scott with some ground and pound. Scott looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Tsuruta trying to control from half guard but Scott is working away. Tsuruta scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Tsuruta not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Scott looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tsuruta is one step ahead there. Scott throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Tsuruta is in close to Scott's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tsuruta working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Tsuruta controlling from the top position. Tsuruta content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Scott has locked up a guillotine! Scott's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Tsuruta is holding on here and Scott must be using up a lot of energy. Tsuruta has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Scott gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Alejandro Scott! Alejandro Scott is the new light heavyweight champion! Alejandro Scott bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
