And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Bruna Faria! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Faria shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Steve tries to counter with a takedown but Faria is quick to defend against it. Faria has his takedown stuffed and Steve counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Steve (2) vs (0) Faria Faria looks winded! Steve trying to pass the guard but Faria defending well. Faria is looking to control Steve's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Faria avoid being mounted? Steve is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Steve has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Steve seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Faria for as long as he can get away with. Steve continues to stall. Faria is looking to improve his position but Steve isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Steve sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Steve's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Faria tries to reverse the position but Steve maintains control.
