PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luke Moxley (ranked 4561 p4p, 5185 weight class) and Raval Bard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Moxley !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raval Bard!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bard fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Moxley .
Bard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice body kick there by Bard.
Moxley swings for the body but Bard moves out of range.
Bard drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Moxley defends it well.
Nice sprawl there from Moxley as Bard shoots in.
Bard uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Moxley .
Moxley throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Moxley takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Bard ducks under a wild hook from Moxley .

Bard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bard is trying to ground and pound but Moxley uses the momentary lack of control by Bard to regain half guard.
Bard thows a huge punch but Moxley dodges it nicely.
Bard sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Moxley defending well though.
Bard thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Moxley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bard perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Moxley regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bard.
Bard is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Moxley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bard stands up over Moxley , holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Moxley is breathing heavily.
Bard throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Moxley works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bard scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Bard looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Moxley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bard throwing strikes but missing.
Moxley preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bard postures up in Moxley 's guard and throws a big left but Moxley blocks it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
A head kick misses from Bard.
Raval Bard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moxley moves out of range of the body kick from Bard.
Bard has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Bard throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Moxley 's head.

It looks like Luke Moxley has been cut.
Luke Moxley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bard shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Moxley is trying to defend but Bard finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Bard throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Bard lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Moxley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bard thows a huge punch but Moxley dodges it nicely.

Bard slips a nice elbow through Moxley 's hands, connecting with Moxley 's forehead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bard perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
It looks like Bard might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Bard working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Bard lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Moxley ! More strikes land and this one is all over! Bard jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Raval Bard!
Raval Bard decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
