Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Lanier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiger Shark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lanier comes to the cage accompanied by Sage Francis-Sea Lion. Tiger Shark will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Lanier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tiger Shark! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shark fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lanier looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Excellent takedown into side control there by Shark. The strikes coming from Shark are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Lanier parries the strikes from Shark easily there. Shark is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lanier to escape.
Shark wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lanier keeps working. Shark tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Shark trying to control the position but Lanier is working away. Lanier tries to bench press Shark off him but Shark keeps the position. Lanier parries the strikes from Shark easily there. Shark is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lanier to escape.
Shark really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lanier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shark will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Shark shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shark showed some decent athleticism there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shark wants to stand up but Lanier is controlling the position.
Shark escapes and gets back to his feet. Shark gets a clinch. Shark avoiding damage.

Shark is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Shark can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lanier controls the pace. Lanier looking to pass the guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Lanier is looking to take a break and control but Shark is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lanier content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Shark is trying to control Lanier's posture but Lanier avoids it. Shark tries to bench press Lanier off him but Lanier keeps the position. Lanier is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Shark's shoulder. That is not cool. Shark is not content to let Lanier control the position. Lanier throwing shots but missing, from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tiger Shark dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lanier is thwarting Shark's attempts to control the position. Shark is controlling Lanier's trapped leg to prevent Lanier from advancing to side control. Lanier keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Lanier prevents Shark from improving his position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Shark shoots and misses and Lanier counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shark's guard now. Shark controls Lanier momentarily but Lanier frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lanier controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Lanier stopping the sweep attempt from Shark. Lanier controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lanier has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Lanier trying to control but Shark is working from the bottom. Shark is trying to maintain the position but Lanier is very close to passing his half guard. Lanier wants to free his trapped foot but Shark is holding on for dear life with his legs. Lanier is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Shark defends it well. Lanier takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Shark tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lanier closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Lanier misses with a kick to the body.
Lanier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shark circles away quickly and effectively. Shark with a lazy takedown attempt and Lanier counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lanier. Andrew Lanier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tiger Shark. Lanier wants to control from the top but Shark keeps moving. Lanier is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
