PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Phillip (ranked 2984 p4p, 4701 weight class) and Project IV (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Project IV!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.

Phillip shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has IV pinned against the cage. IV gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The fight stays on the outside here - IV looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Phillip is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from IV.

Phillip has hold of one of IV's legs. IV is fighting the takedown attempt but Phillip gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

IV is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Phillip is controlling him.
Phillip stands and throws IV's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Phillip decides to stand up, so the ref orders IV to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and IV counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Phillip is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Phillip tries to score a power double leg takedown but IV sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Phillip somewhat.

Phillip looks up at the clock and then as IV takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Phillip smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Phillip takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
IV throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Phillip stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
IV tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Phillip paws at him with a jab and circles away.
IV misses with a kick to the body.
IV loads up on a big right hand but Phillip slips the punch.
IV pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

IV avoids the body shot from Phillip.
Phillip tries to clinch up but IV circles away and keeps his distance.

IV is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Phillip gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
IV has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Phillip is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

IV is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Phillip pulls him back up using the underhooks.

IV really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Phillip. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Joe Phillip overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
IV is looking to get back to full guard here but Phillip has managed to pass to side control instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
IV takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Phillip slows the pace down in half guard.
Phillip lands with a punch from half guard.
Phillip looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
IV wants to get back to his feet.
Phillip will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
IV is trying to control but can't.

Joe Phillip showed his dominance in that final round.
I think IV has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
