Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan King (ranked 4477 p4p, 4491 weight class) and Mateo Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonathan King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mateo Gonzalez! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Chris Dean and Donatello Bradman.

It looks like Mateo Gonzalez has been cut. King lands with an overhand left. Gonzalez tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. The fight moves into the clinch position. Gonzalez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. King fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gonzalez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. King is trying to defend but Gonzalez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gonzalez controlling the action here. Let's hope that Gonzalez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

King is looking to get back to full guard here but Gonzalez has managed to pass to side control instead. Gonzalez throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. King is trying to improve his position. Gonzalez misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Gonzalez in side control, just content to control the action for now. King tries to bench press Gonzalez off him but Gonzalez keeps the position. Gonzalez lands some shots froms side control. Who's going to make the next move?

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Gonzalez fails with an attempt to clinch.
King instigates a clinch. Gonzalez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. King wanted to stand there but Gonzalez had control of the position. King gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Gonzalez pushes King up against the cage in a clinch. King is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. King breaks the clinch.
King drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gonzalez is trying to keep King in close.
Gonzalez wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jonathan King will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Mateo Gonzalez's cut. That's time! Back to the action! King throws a head kick that misses. Gonzalez steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from King. That one must have hurt. King lands with a kick to the temple. Gonzalez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Gonzalez throws a head kick but King moves out of range.

It looked like King was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Gonzalez. Gonzalez shoots in but King avoids the takedown attempt easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but King gets the underhooks and prevents it.

King lands with a nice body punch. Gonzalez is breathing heavily. King throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gonzalez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. King scores with a head kick. Gonzalez tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. King shoots in looking for a takedown. Gonzalez tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gonzalez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. King lands with a thumping leg kick.
Gonzalez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. King was covering up waiting for the punch and Gonzalez finishes the takedown easily into guard. King wants to sweep but no luck. Mateo Gonzalez has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. King pushes Gonzalez off and scrambles back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! King gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Gonzalez tries to break free but King pushes him back against the cage. Gonzalez is trying to break free. King jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gonzalez walks away with a smile on his face. King gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. King scores with a kick to the midsection. King with a nice calf kick. King lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
That's three minutes gone in the round. King rushes Gonzalez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A head kick misses from Gonzalez. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gonzalez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and King has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from King and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Gonzalez slaps away a takedown attempt from King, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jonathan King is winning the standup battle so far. King throws a sloppy head kick and Gonzalez moves out of range easily. King tries to clinch up but Gonzalez circles away and keeps his distance. King is looking to clinch but Gonzalez is avoiding it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from King. No luck with that takedown attempt from Gonzalez. Jonathan King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gonzalez shoots in looking for a takedown but King manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gonzalez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. King went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. King moves into the clinch successfully.

King lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! King uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gonzalez. Gonzalez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. King quickly recovers to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonathan King dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Mateo Gonzalez's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. King has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gonzalez has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. King manages to break the clinch.
King throws a sloppy head kick and Gonzalez moves out of range easily. Gonzalez tries a quick counter leg kick but King is wise to it. King looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gonzalez is fending him off so far but King persists. Nope, Gonzalez circles away and we're back to standing. King tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gonzalez shoots and misses and King counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Gonzalez is trying to push King away but King has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Gonzalez jumps guard but King turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. King's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Both fighters are breathing heavily. King tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gonzalez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten King somewhat. Gonzalez is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. King is looking to get back to is feet but Gonzalez passes into side control.
Gonzalez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt King will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Gonzalez stands up and we're back to a striking position.

King tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Gonzalez is able to avoid easily. Gonzalez throws a low kick but King avoids it. King looks for a takedown but Gonzalez sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonathan King. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thud! ouch! good body kick from King - that will leave a mark!
Gonzalez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. King manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. King tries to keep at a distance but Gonzalez has taken the fight into the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gonzalez wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.

Gonzalez stalls. Gonzalez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but King gets the underhooks and prevents it.

King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Horrible takedown attempt by Gonzalez or perhaps it was just good defense by King, which made it look bad. Gonzalez closes this distance looking for a takedown but King circles away.

King throws a series of punches but Gonzalez avoids them all with ease. Gonzalez blocks a head kick by King.
King shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gonzalez but Gonzalez pushes him off and we're back to square one. Gonzalez tries to clinch up but King circles away and keeps his distance. Jonathan King is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. King blocks a head kick by Gonzalez.
King connects with a high kick. Gonzalez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. King has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gonzalez has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! Jonathan King showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for King, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
