Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chief Slayer (ranked 2737 p4p, 2080 weight class) and Phillip Terrell (ranked 335 p4p, 255 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Slayer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phillip Terrell! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slayer walks into a left hand. Slayer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Slayer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Terrell circles away. Terrell lands with a shot to the body. Slayer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Terrell as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chief Slayer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Terrell lands with a shot to the body. Terrell uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Terrell lands a nice leg kick that just misses Slayer's sensitive parts. Terrell fails with an attempt to clinch.
Slayer takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

and Slayer counters with a single leg into guard. Terrell didn't expect that. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Slayer wants to pass the guard but Terrell is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Terrell has Slayer pulled in close to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Let's hope that Terrell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Slayer tries to free his leg and advance position but Terrell is retaining full guard. Terrell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Terrell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Slayer looking for a guillotine here but Terrell defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Terrell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Terrell trying to control the position from guard on top but Slayer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Slayer has his feet on Terrell's thighs here. He's pushed Terrell off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Terrell screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
