This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 5 losses; Andy Shifter! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Sepi has his takedown stuffed and Shifter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Sepi (0) vs (2) Shifter Shifter wants to control from the top but Sepi keeps moving. Sepi working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Shifter has passed into half guard!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Shifter tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sepi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shifter wants to control from the top but Sepi keeps moving.
