This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 10 losses; David Allan Coe! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 8 losses; Harry Hirsch!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Hirsch stuffs the takedown attempt from Coe. Coe gets slowly back to his feet.

Coe darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Coe prevents Hirsch from improving his position.

Coe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hirsch doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Coe.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coe trying to pass the guard but Hirsch defending well.
Hirsch has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Hirsch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Coe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Coe tries to free his leg and advance position but Hirsch is retaining full guard.
Coe wants to control from the top but Hirsch keeps moving.

Coe drops back looking for a leg! Hirsch is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hirsch manages to kick Coe off! Coe jumps back into Hirsch's guard.
Hirsch looking for a sweep. Not yet Hirsch, not yet.
Coe has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Coe wants to control from the top but Hirsch keeps moving.

Coe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hirsch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coe has managed to get both his arms back between Hirsch's legs - danger averted.

Hirsch pulls Coe in close to his closed guard and prevents Coe from doing any damage or advancing position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Coe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hirsch looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hirsch looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hirsch!

A lull in the action here as Hirsch stalls from top position.

Coe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hirsch trying to control the position but Coe is working away.
Coe tries to improve position but can't.
Hirsch tries to advance to mount but can't.
Hirsch controlling the position from side mount.
Coe is looking for a sweep.
Coe manages to get back to half guard.

Coe is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hirsch pulls his head out easily.

Hirsch trying to mount his opponent but Coe defends it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Coe regains full guard. Nicely done.

Hirsch content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Coe has locked up a guillotine! Coe's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hirsch is holding on here and Coe must be using up a lot of energy. Hirsch has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Coe gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). David Allan Coe!
David Allan Coe really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Ma Balls Is Hot Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
