This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Wutang Lee! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 4 losses; Sid Murrdock! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lee moves into range and clinches up with Murrdock. Lee has hold of one of Murrdock's legs. Murrdock is fighting the takedown attempt but Lee gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Lee (2) vs (0) Murrdock Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Murrdock is retaining full guard. Lee stopping the sweep attempt from Murrdock. Lee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Murrdock looking for a sweep. Not yet Murrdock, not yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Murrdock being controlled here, momentarily. Lee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Murrdock is keeping the position for now. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee wants to control from the top but Murrdock keeps moving. Murrdock has control of Lee's left arm, preventing Lee from doing any damage. Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Murrdock is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Murrdock bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lee's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Lee (2) vs (2) Murrdock Lee keeping full guard, as Murrdock tries to pass. Lee has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Murrdock trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. My spies in Hey Steves Fight Shack inform me that Murrdock has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lee struggling a bit here. Lee is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Murrdock off and has taken his back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Lee (6) vs (5) Murrdock Lee is not going to allow Murrdock to sit and survive in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Murrdock's body.
Murrdock wants to escape the position.

Lee trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Murrdock trying to control the position but Lee manages to sink in the hooks. Murrdock might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lee haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Lee just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Murrdock forces his way into half guard. Murrdock slows the pace down in half guard. Let's hope that Murrdock has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Murrdock's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Murrdock is continuing to stall. Murrdock wants to take a breather but Lee is having none of it.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Lee gets full guard. Murrdock looking to pass the guard. Murrdock is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Murrdock trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom. Lee working a defensive guard here.
Lee is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Murrdock is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Lee controlling Murrdock's posture. Murrdock wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. Lee controlling the position. Lee wants to sweep here but Murrdock controlling him for the moment.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Murrdock pushes down on Lee's leg and manages to get into half guard. Murrdock passes to full mount! And that's the end of the fight! Murrdock wins on points by 10 to 6. A very excited looking Sid Murrdock made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. |
