Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paddy OBrien (ranked 2982 p4p, 23194 weight class) and Chester Bowen (ranked 393 p4p, 627 weight class). Paddy OBrien has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paddy OBrien! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chester Bowen! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! OBrien drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Bowen is looking to stand back up but OBrien counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Bowen.
Bowen actively working from the bottom here. OBrien stops Bowen from getting back to his feet.
OBrien scores with a couple of good hammerfists. OBrien throwing shots but Bowen is blocking nicely. Bowen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. OBrien with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. OBrien uses his free foot to push down on Bowen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bowen. Bowen is squirming around, avoiding OBrien's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. OBrien raining down shots from the mount! OBrien moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bowen has worked his arm free - good work by Bowen!
OBrien wants to control but Bowen is keeping him busy. Bowen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but OBrien is controlling him well. OBrien throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Bowen gets back to half guard. Bowen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Bowen is looking for a sweep. OBrien is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bowen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. OBrien got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bowen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, OBrien has managed to get both his arms back between Bowen's legs - danger averted. OBrien postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bowen has his foot on OBrien's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. OBrien works his way back into a safe position though. OBrien pushing down on Bowen's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Bowen has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but OBrien is on him like a limpet, forcing Bowen back against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. OBrien using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

OBrien blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Bowen gets a trip takedown into half guard. OBrien is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. OBrien is trying to control but can't.
Bowen decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. OBrien goes for a high kick. It partially lands. OBrien connects with a high kick. OBrien tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. OBrien tries to clinch up but Bowen circles away and keeps his distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. OBrien tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. This has been an exciting period of action! OBrien rushes Bowen and presses him up against the cage. OBrien with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
OBrien tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bowen just stands there and leans against the cage. Bowen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. OBrien wants to control from the top but Bowen keeps moving. Bowen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bowen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. OBrien is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bowen. OBrien working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Paddy OBrien will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. OBrien fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. It seemed like Bowen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. OBrien looking to score a takedown here. Bowen is defending well but OBrien drives through and ends up in Bowen's guard. Bowen looking for a guillotine here but OBrien defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. OBrien won't allow Bowen to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bowen throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round. OBrien pushing down on Bowen's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Bowen won't allow OBrien to pass to mount. Bowen is trying to stand.
OBrien seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bowen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. OBrien knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bowen on the ground. Bowen looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Bowen is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. OBrien is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bowen defends it well. OBrien looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bowen is trying to stand up here but OBrien is controlling him well. Still in half guard, OBrien seems content to control.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bowen misses with a straight right. OBrien has managed to clinch.
Bowen being controlled against the cage. OBrien putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Bowen in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. OBrien with a knee to the head.
Bowen digs a right hand underneath OBrien's ribcage. OBrien let out a lung full of air as it connected. OBrien tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

I was talking to OBrien's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Knees in the clinch landing for OBrien.
Bowen wants the takedown. OBrien is fighting it off but Bowen persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in OBrien's guard against the cage. Bowen tries to stand but OBrien is controlling from the bottom. OBrien is working an open guard so Bowen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. OBrien avoids the head kick by Bowen.
OBrien throwing a counter right hand but Bowen manages to avoid it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! OBrien tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Chester Bowen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. OBrien fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Paddy OBrien is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Bowen dodges the punch combination from OBrien.
OBrien shoots in looking for a takedown but Bowen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing OBrien's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paddy OBrien. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bowen misses with a head kick.
It looked like OBrien wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Horrible takedown attempt by OBrien or perhaps it was just good defense by Bowen, which made it look bad. Bowen throws a lazy head kick and OBrien connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bowen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bowen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. OBrien moves in looking to clinch but Bowen pushes him off. Bowen looks like he wants to counter punch here. OBrien tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bowen swats him away and circles back towards the center. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Paddy OBrien will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
OBrien throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bowen was covering up waiting for the punch and OBrien finishes the takedown easily into guard. OBrien trying to control but Bowen is working from the bottom. Bowen wants to stand and escape but OBrien is having none of it. OBrien trying to control the position from guard on top but Bowen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bowen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but OBrien can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bowen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bowen is keeping the position for now. Bowen has his foot on OBrien's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. You can't force these things though and OBrien defends well. OBrien trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Chester Bowen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! OBrien is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Bowen has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. OBrien is looking to defend but Bowen has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for OBrien! Bowen pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, OBrien taps out and this one is all over!

Chester Bowen very nearly forgot to thank Dr Zoidberg Office amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
