PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John C Reilly (ranked 252 p4p, 1621 weight class) and Hanny Sledgehammer (ranked 33 p4p, 222 weight class). Reilly comes into the arena with John C. Reilly Funniest Moments blaring out of the sound system. Hanny Sledgehammer told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!

With a record of 17 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hanny Sledgehammer!

Reilly throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reilly throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sledgehammer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sledgehammer takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Reilly fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Reilly crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sledgehammer - the referee stops the clock and Reilly gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sledgehammer. Reilly manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sledgehammer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Reilly.
Sledgehammer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Reilly takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Reilly fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sledgehammer manages to avoid it.
Reilly swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sledgehammer throws a body punch but Reilly moves out of range.
Reilly swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Reilly lands a nice looking body shot.

Reilly has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Razor Sharp Training Systems in the buildup to the fight.
Reilly is looking to wear down Sledgehammer with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Sledgehammer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Sledgehammer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Reilly moves away.
Sledgehammer doesn't manage to clinch there - Reilly circles away.

Reilly paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Sledgehammer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Reilly was well out of range. Poor timing from Sledgehammer.

A punch lands to the side of Sledgehammer 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Sledgehammer tries to move into range but Reilly moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Reilly throws a leg kick but Sledgehammer checks it.
Reilly clobbers Sledgehammer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Reilly avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Reilly attempts a counter takedown but Sledgehammer avoids it well and moves away.

Reilly is looking to score with low kicks.

Reilly takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hanny Sledgehammer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

John C Reilly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reilly throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sledgehammer's waist but Sledgehammer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reilly off to one side.

Reilly dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Reilly lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Reilly swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Reilly throws a big uppercut that drops Sledgehammer! More strikes from Reilly and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Sledgehammer lies dazed against the cage as Reilly celebrates with his cornermen!
