Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Art Vincent Dela Cruz (ranked 2188 p4p, 2676 weight class) and Mike Carpenter (ranked 248 p4p, 310 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Art Vincent Dela Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carpenter walks into a left hand. The fight stays on the outside here - Carpenter looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Carpenter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Carpenter moves into the clinch. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Carpenter has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. A quick uppercut on the inside from Carpenter. Dela Cruz has Carpenter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carpenter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Carpenter stops a takedown attempt from Dela Cruz.

Carpenter throwing strikes from guard but Dela Cruz blocks nicely. Carpenter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Carpenter wants to pass the guard but Dela Cruz is keeping the position. Carpenter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Let's hope that Carpenter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Dela Cruz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Dela Cruz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Carpenter has his hands clasped together but Dela Cruz extends and breaks Carpenter's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Dela Cruz.
