Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luis Santos (ranked 5980 p4p, 24241 weight class) and Bartek Nowak (ranked 606 p4p, 649 weight class). Nowak has chosen The Script-Hall of Fame as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Santos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bartek Nowak! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.

Santos is not content to let Nowak control the position. Nowak should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Santos tries to get to full guard but Nowak has control of the leg. Nowak is trying to work for a kimura but Santos is defending well.
Nowak thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Santos's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nowak is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Santos defends it well. Nowak is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Santos is staying active underneath Nowak, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Nowak dives in and grabs Santos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes down on Nowak's head and hops out. Nowak decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Nowak with a poor takedown and Santos counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Luis Santos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Santos in particular looking to stall. Santos has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nowak is looking to control Santos's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nowak avoid being mounted? Santos sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Santos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nowak for as long as he can get away with. Nowak trying to control but Santos postures up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Santos sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nowak throws a series of punches but Santos moves out of range. Nowak shoots for a takedown but Santos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Santos is looking to counter with a body kick. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Nowak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Santos circles away. Luis Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bartek Nowak. Nowak shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Santos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Santos in particular looking to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nowak knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Santos keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. This is a sustained period of stalling by Santos.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos continues to hold on tight. Nowak tries to roll over but Santos keeps him under control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Santos looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luis Santos dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round! Horrible takedown attempt by Nowak or perhaps it was just good defense by Santos, which made it look bad. Santos jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Nowak fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Santos tries to counter by clinching up but Nowak breaks away and moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nowak pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Santos back to the cage. Nowak follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nowak shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Nowak is looking for a kimura here.
Nowak is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Nowak is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Santos still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Santos has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Nowak can't do much from the bottom here. Santos is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Nowak's shoulder. That is not cool. Nowak is trying to control Santos's posture but Santos avoids it. Santos happy to just control the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nowak is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Santos moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Nowak can't do much from the bottom here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Santos takes a little break here. Nowak wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Bartek Nowak has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
And that's the end of the fight! Luis Santos showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
