Flu has chosen Neoni - Wasteland as his entrance music. Constantin Niculescu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kung Flu!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Niculescu has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Niculescu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Flu.

Niculescu feints and as Flu raises his hands in defense, Niculescu changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Flu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Niculescu manages to get himself to full guard.

Niculescu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Flu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Niculescu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Flu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Flu is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Flu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Niculescu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Niculescu wants to improve his position but Flu is controlling well.
Still in half guard, Flu seems content to control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Niculescu shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Flu napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Flu is still in real trouble! Can Niculescu finish him?
Niculescu lands a big elbow - Flu is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Niculescu!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Constantin Niculescu!
Constantin Niculescu decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
