PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ace Gunn (ranked 4526 p4p, 4567 weight class) and Rob Morgan (ranked 457 p4p, 459 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Morgan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Gunn closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morgan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gunn is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Gunn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Gunn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Morgan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gunn throws a right and a left that Morgan avoids nicely.
Gunn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Morgan sprawls well. Morgan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gunn gets slowly back to his feet.

Morgan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gunn as he jumps to the side.
Gunn lunges at Morgan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Morgan's hand.

Morgan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gunn circles away.
Ace Gunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rob Morgan.

Gunn gets tackled into the cage by Morgan. Morgan maintains the clinch.
Gunn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Morgan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Gunn feints and as Morgan raises his hands in defense, Gunn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Morgan is on top in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Morgan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gunn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Morgan is in Gunn's guard.

Morgan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gunn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gunn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The fight stays on the outside here - Gunn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Gunn wants to clinch up but Morgan keeps it at a distance.

Morgan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gunn tries to avoid it but Morgan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gunn to the ground. Gunn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well Gunn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
