Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Senior (ranked 1700 p4p, 1982 weight class) and Lars Wagner (ranked 223 p4p, 260 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Senior! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lars Wagner! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wagner tries to clinch there but Senior circles away.
Wagner is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Wagner moves into the clinch. We've been hearing reports that Senior has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Senior stalling against the cage.
Wagner can't find room to land a body shot as Senior controls the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wagner lands an uppercut. Senior goes for a takedown attempt but Wagner pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wagner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Wagner falls off balance throwing a combination
and Senior counters with a takedown into side control. Wagner bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Senior takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wagner looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Senior has a closed guard, preventing Wagner from standing up. My spies in Blanc Fitness Academy inform me that Wagner has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Senior bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wagner's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Senior is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Senior won't allow Wagner to get back to his feet. Senior trying to control but Wagner is working from the bottom. Senior pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wagner is keeping the position for now. Senior wants to control from the top but Wagner keeps moving. Wagner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Senior looking to sit in guard and control but Wagner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wagner is looking to stand up but Senior won't let him. Senior is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Senior wants to sweep but no luck. Senior is looking for a triangle but Wagner pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Senior wants to sweep here but Wagner controlling him for the moment. Senior is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Senior wants to control but Wagner is keeping him busy. Wagner is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Senior scores with a couple of nice shots. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Senior landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Senior is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wagner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Senior. Senior seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wagner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Lars Wagner dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Wagner defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Senior. Wagner scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are battling for position here. Senior manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Senior wants to sweep here but Wagner controlling him for the moment. Wagner wants to stand and escape but instead Senior has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Lars Wagner has got the better of the ground game so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Senior controls from within his opponent's guard. Senior trying to control the position from guard on top but Wagner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Senior looking to pass the guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wagner can do anything to dispel that myth. Senior forces his way into half guard. Wagner is defending against the submission attempts here by Senior.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Senior thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wagner's head. Senior frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Senior wants to finish this one by submission but Wagner is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Senior. Senior working for a guillotine from mount but Wagner is in no mood to give up. Senior jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Wagner manages to avoid the submission attempt. Wagner is not content to let Senior control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Senior in side control, throwing shots but Wagner defends. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wagner struggling a bit here. Senior in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Senior lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Wagner down.
Wagner is trying to improve his position. Senior content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Wagner holds on to Senior's head and controls the position momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Senior is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wagner has escaped the position, nice work there. Wagner struggling a bit here. Wagner tries to get back to half guard but can't. Who's going to make the next move? Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wagner is trying to control Senior's posture but Senior avoids it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wagner throws a combination that misses and Wagner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Wagner closes the distance and pushes Senior back into the cage. Wagner is pressed up against the cage. Senior has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wagner down to the mat. Wagner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Wagner instigates a clinch. Senior is stalling here.

Wagner manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Wagner gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Senior.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Senior. That's going to take a lot out of him. Senior has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wagner avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. A short right from Wagner on the inside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Wagner misses with a punch on the inside.
Senior has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Wagner is trying to keep an underhook but Senior manages to get the takedown into half guard. Senior is pressing down on Wagner's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wagner is holding on for now. Senior is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wagner won't allow Senior to pass to mount. Wagner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wagner. Senior lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wagner is looking to stand up but Senior isn't so interested in that idea. Senior stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wagner swivels though and keeps the full guard. Senior slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Wagner is not content to let Senior control the position. Senior controlling the position from side mount. Senior wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wagner keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Wagner is looking for a sweep. Senior advances to full mount. Senior wants to control the pace but Wagner is squirming around nicely. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joe Senior. I think Senior has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
