PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Wheeler (ranked 6298 p4p, 25064 weight class) and Noah Sleaze (ranked 562 p4p, 658 weight class). Sleaze comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Time by Syn Cole kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Noah Sleaze has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ryan Wheeler's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sleaze takes the fight into the clinch.
Wheeler has Sleaze pressed against the cage, preventing Sleaze from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Sleaze prevents a body shot from Wheeler.
Wheeler has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sleaze is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sleaze wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Wheeler has clasped his hands together around Sleaze's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sleaze is looking for a sweep.
Sleaze managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Wheeler.
Wheeler creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sleaze sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Sleaze tries to close the distance and clinch but Wheeler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wheeler jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Sleaze feints a jab promting Wheeler to slip. Sleaze then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Wheeler slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
A bone on bone clash there as Wheeler blocks the leg kick.
As Sleaze looks to move away, Wheeler throws a big counter combo but Sleaze just gets out of the way.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Noah Sleaze dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sleaze has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Sleaze has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Wheeler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sleaze won't be happy with that.
Ryan Wheeler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sleaze can't do much from the bottom here.
Sleaze is not content to let Wheeler control the position.

Wheeler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sleaze knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wheeler thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sleaze pushes Wheeler away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wheeler gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Sleaze sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wheeler prevents Sleaze from improving his position.
Sleaze tries to kick Wheeler off but Wheeler keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Wheeler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sleaze does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wheeler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sleaze with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wheeler is nestled in close to Sleaze, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sleaze gets back to full guard.

Wheeler jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sleaze walks away with a smile on his face. Wheeler gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

With the fighters up against the cage, Wheeler throws an elbow but misses.
Wheeler is working for takedown but Sleaze is calmly controlling the position for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sleaze tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wheeler swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
