Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Amemir Vida (ranked 3667 p4p, 4415 weight class) and Minato Tokugawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vida has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Amemir Vida! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Minato Tokugawa! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vida shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tokugawa sprawls well. Tokugawa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vida gets slowly back to his feet. Vida could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Vida is breathing heavily. Vida throws a leg kick and Tokugawa counters with a straight right hand. Tokugawa dives in for a single leg takedown but Vida sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Vida misses with a takedown and Tokugawa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Tokugawa has Vida pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vida manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Tokugawa is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Vida is defending well. Amemir Vida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Minato Tokugawa. Tokugawa manages to break the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tokugawa gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tokugawa wants to take a breather but Vida is having none of it. Vida might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Tokugawa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vida does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Tokugawa gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Tokugawa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vida as he jumps to the side. Vida shoots for a double leg takedown but Tokugawa sprawls well. He's pushed Vida's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Tokugawa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vida avoids it really well and circles away. Vida closes the distance but Tokugawa moves to the side and Tokugawa counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tokugawa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Vida tries to clinch up but Tokugawa circles away and keeps his distance. Vida walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Tokugawa shoots in for a takedown but Vida shows good takedown defense. Tokugawa closes the distance and pushes Vida back into the cage. Tokugawa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vida uses from the top position. Vida won't allow Tokugawa to get back to his feet. Vida trying to control but Tokugawa is working from the bottom. Vida stays in close to Tokugawa's body and controls the position. Tokugawa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vida. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tokugawa trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tokugawa wants to stand but Vida is controlling the position. Tokugawa throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Vida with a nice head shot there. Tokugawa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Tokugawa throws a head kick but Vida moves out of range.
Tokugawa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vida is fending him off so far but Tokugawa persists. Nope, Vida circles away and we're back to standing. Tokugawa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Tokugawa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vida as he jumps to the side. Vida wants to clinch up but Tokugawa keeps it at a distance. Vida tries to clinch up but Tokugawa circles away and keeps his distance. Vida shoots in for a takedown but Tokugawa shows good takedown defense. Vida shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tokugawa sprawls well. Tokugawa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vida gets slowly back to his feet. Tokugawa shoots in and drives through. Vida sprawls well. A head kick from Tokugawa lands but Vida takes it in his stride. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Horrible takedown attempt by Vida or perhaps it was just good defense by Tokugawa, which made it look bad. Tokugawa lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Minato Tokugawa dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Tokugawa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Vida half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Vida misses with an uppercut. Vida is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Vida displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tokugawa. Vida fails with the takedown and Tokugawa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Tokugawa tries to pull guard but Vida won't allow it.
Amemir Vida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Minato Tokugawa. Tokugawa crunches a lovely knee into Vida's ribcage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tokugawa pulls guard effortlessly. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vida accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Tokugawa is looking for a triangle but Vida pushes his legs off easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tokugawa doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Tokugawa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Tokugawa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vida is controlling him. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Tokugawa wants to sweep here but Vida controlling him for the moment.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Tokugawa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Vida displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tokugawa.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Vida tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tokugawa swivels and escapes. Despite the aggression on Tokugawa's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Tokugawa clinches. Tokugawa pulls guard. Tokugawa working a defensive guard here.
Tokugawa has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Tokugawa wants to sweep here but Vida controlling him for the moment. Vida prevents Tokugawa from getting back to his feet. Tokugawa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Tokugawa is looking to stand up but Vida isn't so interested in that idea.

Vida tries for a takedown but Tokugawa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Amemir Vida is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Tokugawa clinches up with Vida and pushes him back against the cage. Tokugawa is trying to drag Vida to the mat but Vida just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Tokugawa prevents the takedown attempt.
Tokugawa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Tokugawa instigates a clinch. Tokugawa tries for a takedown but Vida manages to get underhooks.

Minato Tokugawa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round! Tokugawa fails with a takedown attempt. Tokugawa fails with a takedown attempt. Vida feinted with a counter takedown. Tokugawa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vida pinned against the cage. Vida gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Amemir Vida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Minato Tokugawa. Tokugawa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vida as he jumps to the side. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tokugawa dives in and scores a takedown into Vida's guard. Tokugawa postures up in Vida's guard and throws a big left but Vida blocks it. Tokugawa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tokugawa wants to control from the top but Vida keeps moving.

Vida works a leg free and moves into half guard. Tokugawa tries to kick Vida off but Vida keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vida looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tokugawa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Tokugawa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vida is working away from the top position though. Vida controlling the action here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tokugawa wants to get back to his feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tokugawa can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vida passes to side control. Tokugawa tries to improve position but can't. Minato Tokugawa has got the better of the ground game so far. Vida trying to control the position but Tokugawa is working away. Vida looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Vida landing a few strikes. Tokugawa tries to get back to half guard but can't. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tokugawa can't do much from the bottom here.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Amemir Vida. Well Tokugawa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
