Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rou Joukani (ranked 2059 p4p, 2046 weight class) and Konichiwa Jempsa (ranked 286 p4p, 283 weight class). The key to victory for Rou Joukani has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rou Joukani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Konichiwa Jempsa!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jempsa scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Joukani stuffs the takedown attempt from Jempsa. Jempsa gets slowly back to his feet.
Jempsa cracks Joukani with an open hand slap.
Joukani throws a hook but Jempsa avoids it easily.
Jempsa misses with a takedown attempt
and Joukani cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Konichiwa Jempsa has been cut.
Jempsa throws the left hand but Joukani avoids the punch easily.
Joukani misses with a body shot.
Joukani moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jempsa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Joukani counters with a nice uppercut.

Jempsa dives in for a single leg takedown but Joukani sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jempsa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Joukani quickly recovers to half guard.
Jempsa thows a huge punch but Joukani dodges it nicely.

Jempsa seems to be looking for submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Joukani knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jempsa on the ground.

We've been told by Joukani's head coaches at Zenarals' House that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jempsa throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Joukani is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jempsa or perhaps it was just good defense by Joukani, which made it look bad.
Jempsa connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Joukani's hands.
Jempsa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Jempsa looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Jempsa is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Joukani's shoulder. That is not cool.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jempsa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Joukani was covering up waiting for the punch and Jempsa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jempsa stays in close to Joukani's body and controls the position.
Jempsa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Joukani wants to sweep here but Jempsa controlling him for the moment.

Jempsa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Jempsa is pushing down on Joukani's leg trying to pass to half guard. Joukani is fighting to maintain full guard but Jempsa has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jempsa takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jempsa connects with a nice short shot to Joukani's temple.
Jempsa seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Konichiwa Jempsa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jempsa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Joukani avoids it really well and circles away.
Joukani swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Joukani is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jempsa.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jempsa! But no joy.
Jempsa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jempsa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Jempsa dives in for a single leg takedown but Joukani sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
It looked like Joukani wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Rou Joukani has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Konichiwa Jempsa.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
