Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Brown (ranked 3425 p4p, 3225 weight class) and Saenchai Sor (ranked 374 p4p, 352 weight class). Brown comes to the cage accompanied by I’ll Whip Ya Head Boy. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 39 - 49 - 5, fighting out of Hilo, John Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Saenchai Sor! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sor connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Brown momentarily.
Brown shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sor's guard. Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sor works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sor wants to get back to his feet but Brown is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Brown looking to sit in guard and control but Sor gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
My spies in Triple XXX inform me that Sor has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Brown wants to sweep here but Sor controlling him for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brown has control of Sor's left arm, preventing Sor from doing any damage. Sor won't allow Brown to sweep him here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brown is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Brown looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown pulls Sor in close to his closed guard and prevents Sor from doing any damage or advancing position. Sor stopping the sweep attempt from Brown. Sor is fighting to break Brown's control of his arms but Brown is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Brown closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sor is trying to buck Brown off. Brown tries to score with some ground and pound. Sor controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. We've been hearing that Brown has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Sor parries the strikes from Brown easily there. Brown is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Sor to escape.
Sor being controlled for a moment. Sor tries to escape but Brown is in control. Brown scoring with punches from side control. Brown cracks Sor with a big right hand but Sor just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Sor regains half guard there - taking advantage of Brown's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Brown content to control rather than advance. Brown has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Brown sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sor defending well though. Brown thows a huge punch but Sor dodges it nicely.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sor takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Brown throws a strike aimed at the side of Sor's head but Sor avoids it well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
John Brown dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Nice sprawl there from Sor as Brown shoots in. Sor throws a leg kick that misses. A solid leg kick lands there for Sor.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sor wants to stand up but Brown is controlling him. Brown pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sor is keeping the position for now. Sor avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Brown trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Sor manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Brown seems keen to control Sor's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Brown not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Brown wants to sweep here but Sor controlling him for the moment. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brown is on top in guard.
Sor is looking to stand up but Brown isn't so interested in that idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown throws a strike but Sor rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Brown wants to improve his position but instead Sor has moved into half guard.
Sor postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Brown to stand up. Sor tries to bum rush Brown with a series of wild strikes but Brown uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Brown avoids a kick to the body.

Sor tries to score with a low kick but Brown moves his leg out of the way. Saenchai Sor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nice shot lands for Sor. Sor rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Brown counters with a stiff right hand. Sor lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Sor takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sor throws a shot from downtown. Brown moves away and avoids it. Sor lands a nice shot that snaps Brown's head back.

and Brown counters with a stiff right hand. Brown pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sor checks a leg kick. Brown uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sor. Saenchai Sor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A nice leg kick from Sor, right into the meat of the thigh.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Saenchai Sor will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round! Sor pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Brown pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No joy there for Sor, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
It looked like Brown wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Brown has a takedown stuffed. Sor looks like he wants to counter punch here. Brown lands a nice looking kick to the body. Sor takes a step back to recover. Brown throws a body kick that misses and Sor cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sor throws a series of punches but Brown avoids them all with ease. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sor throws out a loose jab but Brown uses good head movement to avoid it. Nice defenses there by Brown. Brown misses with a low kick. Sor misses with a body shot.

and Brown connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Brown looks for a takedown but Sor sprawls well. Sor throws a leg kick which misses Brown's front leg but catches the back leg as Brown tries to avoid it. Brown drives through with a takedown into guard. Brown prevents Sor from getting back to his feet. Brown throwing strikes from guard but Sor blocks nicely. Sor avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown stops Sor from standing up. Brown lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Brown working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Brown lands a couple of decent looking shots. Brown missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Brown with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Brown connects with a couple of short punches. Brown keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sor's head. Brown throws a big elbow that misses. Sor keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully. Brown postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brown accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Brown trying to control the position from guard on top but Sor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sor wants to stand but Brown is controlling the position. Sor preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Brown postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Brown prevents Sor from getting back to his feet. Brown throws a big right hand that misses. Brown postures up in Sor's guard and throws a big left but Sor blocks it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Brown tries for a takedown but Sor circles away easily and Sor counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown gets cracked there but stands up to it.

It looked like Brown wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Sor lands a nice leg kick that just misses Brown's sensitive parts. Sor throws an off balance right hand
letting Brown counter with a right hand. Sor thows a leg kick but Brown checks it and Brown counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Brown throws a sloppy head kick and Sor moves out of range easily. Sor with a nice cross. A momentary lapse in concentration from Sor enables Brown to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sor manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brown trying to control but Sor is working from the bottom. Brown throws a strike but Sor rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Brown. I think Brown has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
