PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Emilio Rojas (ranked 454 p4p, 372 weight class) and Herbert Mullin (ranked 53 p4p, 42 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Herbert Mullin!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rojas has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Rojas blocks the body kick.
A head kick from Mullin lands but Rojas takes it in his stride.

Mullin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rojas on the side of the head.

Mullin closes the distance and clinches up with Rojas, looking for a takedown. Mullin pushes Rojas against the cage but Rojas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Emilio Rojas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mullin throws a head kick that half lands.
Mullin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mullin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rojas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A telegraphed right hand from Mullin misses the target.
Nice shot lands for Rojas.

Mullin is rocked!

Rojas moves away from the strike by Mullin.
Mullin is still on wobbly legs! Can Rojas finish him?
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Rojas engages and cracks Mullin with a massive lead left hook - Mullin tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Rojas is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Emilio Rojas!
Our winner, Emilio Rojas, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
