Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ichiro Shimizu (ranked 4193 p4p, 3265 weight class) and Oleg Zadernovskiy (ranked 0 p4p, 388 weight class). Ichiro Shimizu could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Oleg Zadernovskiy's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

Zadernovskiy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shimizu, pushing him back against the cage.

Zadernovskiy has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Shimizu uses from the top position.

Zadernovskiy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zadernovskiy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Zadernovskiy remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Zadernovskiy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Shimizu went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Shimizu tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Zadernovskiy smiles and moves away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Shimizu or perhaps it was just good defense by Zadernovskiy, which made it look bad.

Shimizu shoots for a double leg takedown but Zadernovskiy sprawls well. He's pushed Shimizu's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ichiro Shimizu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shimizu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zadernovskiy's waist but Zadernovskiy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shimizu off to one side.

Zadernovskiy turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Zadernovskiy manages to end up in side control.
Shimizu bucks up and tries to throw Zadernovskiy off but instead Zadernovskiy has got his back!
Zadernovskiy really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Shimizu.
Can Shimizu hold on?! Zadernovskiy is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Zadernovskiy just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Zadernovskiy is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Shimizu has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Zadernovskiy is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Well Zadernovskiy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
