PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hooker (ranked 4506 p4p, 4531 weight class) and Khabib Nutsniffer (ranked 0 p4p, 455 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Hooker lands with a good body shot.
Hooker goes for a double leg but Nutsniffer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nutsniffer continues to drive forward.
Nutsniffer dives in for a single leg takedown but Hooker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Nutsniffer shoots in for a takedown but Hooker shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Nutsniffer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hooker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hooker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Nutsniffer drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hooker pulls his leg out and moves away.

Hooker has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nutsniffer has Hooker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hooker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Nutsniffer tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hooker is trying to force a seperation but Nutsniffer has the dominant position.

Hooker jumps guard and drags Nutsniffer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Hooker working for a triangle but Nutsniffer defends it easily.

Nutsniffer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hooker manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nutsniffer has Hooker in his guard.

Hooker wants to pass the guard but Nutsniffer is keeping the position.

Hooker postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Nutsniffer to stand up.
Hooker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nutsniffer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hooker somewhat.

Nutsniffer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Hooker bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Nutsniffer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hooker on his heels. He'll look to pass Hooker's guard now, I'm sure.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hooker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nutsniffer as he jumps to the side.
Hooker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hooker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nutsniffer leaves Hooker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hooker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nutsniffer, pushing him back against the cage.
Hooker wants to break free but Nutsniffer has control.

Nutsniffer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hooker can't fight it off and eventually Nutsniffer manages to take the fight to the floor. Hooker looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hooker pushes Nutsniffer off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Hooker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Nutsniffer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nutsniffer wants it to stay on the feet.
Hooker shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hooker tries to bum rush Nutsniffer with a series of wild strikes but Nutsniffer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hooker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Nutsniffer moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Nutsniffer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Hooker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nutsniffer as he avoids it easily.
Hooker dives in and grabs Nutsniffer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nutsniffer pushes down on Hooker's head and hops out.

Nutsniffer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hooker tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nutsniffer is in Hooker's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nutsniffer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
