Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenneth Davis (ranked 3508 p4p, 5177 weight class) and Apollo Balboa (ranked 384 p4p, 507 weight class). Balboa has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music. Apollo Balboa is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenneth Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Apollo Balboa! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis pushes Balboa up against the cage in a clinch. Davis has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. A head punch blocked on the inside by Balboa. Balboa comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Balboa breaks the clinch.
Davis throws a right and a left that Balboa avoids nicely. Balboa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Davis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Sloppy strikes from Davis. Those never looked like landing. Balboa closes the distance and clinches. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Balboa just misses with a elbow thrown towards Davis's brow. Davis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Balboa. Balboa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Davis walks away with a smile on his face. Balboa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Balboa doesn't succeed with the takedown and Balboa takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. We've been told by Davis's head coaches at Triple XXX that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Kenneth Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Apollo Balboa. Davis throws a right and a left that Balboa avoids nicely. Balboa looks like he wants to counter punch here. Davis instigates a clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Balboa jumps guard.
Davis wants to stand but Balboa is controlling his posture from full guard. Balboa looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Balboa, up you get! Balboa tries to keep at a distance but Davis has taken the fight into the clinch. Balboa changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Apollo Balboa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Davis wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Davis lands a jab to Balboa's midsection. Davis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Balboa misses with a takedown and Davis counters with a straight right hand. Davis moves into range and clinches up with Balboa. Davis tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head punch blocked on the inside by Balboa. Davis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Davis throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Davis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Balboa has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Davis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Balboa looks to throw an elbow but misses. Davis is trying to force a seperation but Balboa has the dominant position. Davis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Balboa wants to clinch and Davis counters with a lovely straight right hand! Davis darts in and clinches Balboa up against the cage. Balboa is trying to break the clinch but Davis is controlling him. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Balboa is looking for a takedown. A short right from Davis. A short right hand to the side of the head by Davis. Balboa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Davis lands a shoulder strike. Davis goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Balboa misses with an elbow over the top. Balboa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Davis's efforts to push away. Davis is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Balboa is defending well for now. Balboa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Davis's efforts to push away. Davis landing knees to the head.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Davis rushes Balboa and presses him up against the cage. Davis swings wildly with an uppercut but Balboa uses good head movement to avoid it. Davis takes an elbow to the temple. Balboa misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Davis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Balboa has him pressed against the cage. Balboa tries for a takedown but Davis manages to get underhooks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Davis misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Davis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Balboa fails with a takedown attempt. Davis throwing a counter right hand but Balboa manages to avoid it. Davis is pawing at Balboa, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Balboa's nose. Balboa is badly hurt! Davis pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Balboa tries desperately to hold on but Davis is relentless in his assault! As Balboa receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Davis away and this one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenneth Davis!
