Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Liam Walker (ranked 3911 p4p, 21566 weight class) and Mike Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mike Stevens was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Liam Walker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Stevens! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.

Stevens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side. An inside leg kick lands from Stevens. Walker tests Stevens's chin there with a solid looking shot. Stevens moves into the clinch. Stevens pulls Walker into guard.

Walker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Walker trying to control but Stevens is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walker is stalling in the full guard. Walker throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Stevens ducks under a wild hook from Walker. Stevens darts in looking for a takedown but Walker gets double underhooks and turns Stevens into the cage. Walker listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Stevens fails with the takedown and Walker counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Liam Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Stevens. Stevens wants to clinch but Walker slips to the side and Walker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stevens won't be happy with that. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Stevens gets back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens is trying to stand up here but Walker is controlling him well. Walker not landing any meaningful shots this time. Walker is trying to control the action in half guard but Stevens is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Walker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Stevens trying to hold on to Walker's head to control him but Walker postures up.
Walker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stevens works his way to full guard. Good work. Stevens avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Walker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Liam Walker will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Walker misses with a straight right. Stevens slips under a jab. Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walker paws at him with a jab and circles away. Walker seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Stevens fails with a takedown attempt. Mike Stevens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Walker throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stevens sees it coming and avoids it easily. Walker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stevens can do to turn this around? Stevens slips a straight right by Walker. Stevens is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Walker rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Stevens counters with a two punch combo. Stevens uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Walker. Liam Walker is winning the standup battle so far. A decent looking cross lands there for Walker. Walker lands a jab to Stevens's midsection. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walker blocks a head kick by Stevens.
Walker changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Walker takes a swing at Stevens's ribcage but misses. Walker missing with a left hand there. Stevens was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Walker misses with a straight left. Stevens shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Walker defends it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens tries to score a power double leg takedown but Walker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stevens somewhat. Liam Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Stevens. Walker misses with a leg kick and Stevens counters with a one-two to the body. We've been told by Walker's head coaches at The Scrap Squad that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Walker has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Walker lands a jab. Walker keeps the fight on the outside. Walker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Walker misses with a looping left. Stevens rushes Walker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Walker is working Stevens over against the cage. Stevens takes an elbow to the forehead. Walker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Stevens closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stevens lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stevens works a leg free and moves into half guard. Walker is trying to get back to full guard. Stevens wants to pass to mount but Walker is defending the position. Walker is trying to get back to full guard. Walker is pressing down on Stevens's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens is looking to advance position but Walker has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Walker wants to control the pace but Stevens is squirming around nicely. Stevens tries to hold on but Walker postures up. Stevens is trying to escape the mount.
Walker is landing with some decent strikes but Stevens is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Walker lands a big elbow. Stevens keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
