PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Weeks (ranked 522 p4p, 530 weight class) and Justin Gaethje (ranked 58 p4p, 60 weight class). Justin Gaethje told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Justin Gaethje!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Gaethje.
Weeks tries a head kick but it misses.
A little jabbing left from Gaethje on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Weeks misses with a looping right.
Gaethje leaves Weeks with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Weeks throws a jab when Gaethje was well out of range.
A low kick lands for Gaethje.
Weeks looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Weeks misses with a lunging right hand
and Gaethje counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gaethje circles away from the clinch attempt
and Gaethje counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaethje scores with the left hand. Weeks knows he should have avoided that one.
Weeks has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gaethje finds it's way round the side to connect with Weeks's head.

Weeks is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Weeks misses with a left hand
and Gaethje scores with a counter punch that sends Weeks to the canvas! Gaethje smells blood - he's punishing Weeks with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Weeks has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
