Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Killings (ranked 5287 p4p, 24648 weight class) and Jim Lahey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Lahey told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Killings ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Lahey! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lahey swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Killings counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Killings closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lahey circles away. Lahey lands with a slapping head kick. Killings avoids a kick to the body.
Killings stalks Lahey and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lahey's face. Lahey staggers backwards, shaken. Lahey falls off balance throwing a combination
and Killings counters with a left and a right that stings Lahey. Killings fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lahey avoids it really well and circles away. Lahey misses with the body kick and Killings counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lahey thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Killings if he has to take too many more of those.
Lahey throws a series of punches but Killings moves out of range. Lahey throws a half hearted mid kick. A head kick misses from Lahey. Lahey throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Killings counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Lahey throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Killings . Lahey looks winded! Lahey throws a lazy head kick and Killings counters with a single leg into guard. Lahey didn't expect that. Lahey wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Killings manages to pass to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Killings uses his free foot to push down on Lahey's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lahey. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Killings looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Killings controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Killings working the ground and pound effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Killings punching from mount but Lahey doing a good job of avoiding damage. Lahey working to try and regain half guard.
Lahey tries to lock up and control but Killings gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Killings thowing shots but they're missing. Lahey blocking the ground and pound. Killings looking to finish with strikes here!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lahey holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Killings tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Killings is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Killings shoots for a double leg takedown but Lahey sprawls well. He's pushed Killings 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Killings . That's going to take a lot out of him. Lahey looks to land a combination but Killings avoids it well. A thudding body kick lands there by Lahey!
Killings misses with a leg kick. Killings feints a jab promting Lahey to slip. Killings then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lahey slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. A decent looking body kick lands there for Lahey. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Killings moves into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Killings dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Killings fails with a takedown attempt. Killings connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Lahey rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Killings moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Killings blocks the body kick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Killings gets in close and instigates a clinch. Lahey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jason Killings is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Killings has managed to clinch.
Killings jumps guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Killings has his foot on Lahey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lahey works his way back into a safe position though. Jason Killings overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Killings is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Killings looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Killings lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Killings is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Killings throwing strikes but missing. Killings looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Killings is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lahey can do to turn this around?

Killings looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Lahey wants to improve his position but Killings is controlling well.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Killings seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Lahey keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Killings lands a jab to the nose. Killings tries for a takedown but Lahey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Killings . That's going to take a lot out of him. Lahey lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lahey throws a head kick that misses and Killings counters with a nice body shot. Killings fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lahey, pushing him back against the cage. Lahey tries to circle away but Killings has him pinned against the cage. Lahey is trying to break the clinch but Killings has him pressed against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Killings dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round! Lahey throws a right and a left that Killings avoids nicely. Killings drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lahey sprawls and moves away. Lahey tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Killings closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lahey to the mat! Lahey manages to get full guard. Killings controls from within his opponent's guard. Lahey wants to get back to his feet but Killings is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Lahey is looking to sweep but instead, Killings has passed into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Killings takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lahey reaches up to try and control the position but Killings seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Lahey rolls and tries to escape and now Killings has his back!
Killings is riding his opponent, not letting Lahey buck him off. Lahey has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Killings . Killings missing with punches from the back. Lahey rolls, trying to escape but Killings keeps control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Killings working for the choke. Lahey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Killings . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lahey is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Killings 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Lahey trying to get back to his feet but Killings is in full control for now. Killings patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Killings missing with punches from the back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lahey is trying to stand back up. Killings really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Lahey. Killings misses with punches from the back. Jim Lahey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jason Killings is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Killings really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Lahey.
And that's the end of the fight! Jason Killings showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Killings , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
