PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Sonny Corleone Jr. (ranked 5813 p4p, 6807 weight class) and Edouard Ngirente (ranked 572 p4p, 629 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Edouard Ngirente!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngirente moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Ngirente moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Sonny Corleone Jr. has been cut.
A right-left combo lands from Ngirente.
Ngirente throws a head kick but Corleone Jr. moves out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Corleone Jr. misses its target.
Nice defenses there by Ngirente.
Corleone Jr. closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Corleone Jr. on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ngirente has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ngirente there as he acknowledges the shot.
Ngirente misses with a jab, cross combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Corleone Jr. scores with a shot to the body.
Ngirente tests Corleone Jr.'s chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ngirente ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Corleone Jr. tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ngirente was well out of range. Poor timing from Corleone Jr..
Corleone Jr. throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Corleone Jr. throws a head kick that misses.
Ngirente turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ngirente slips under a jab.
Corleone Jr. just misses with a punch to the body.
Corleone Jr. smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Corleone Jr. is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ngirente.

Corleone Jr. throws a looping overhand right but Ngirente ducks down to avoid it.
An inside leg kick lands from Ngirente.
Corleone Jr. has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ngirente finds it's way round the side to connect with Corleone Jr.'s head.
Corleone Jr. takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Donk. Ngirente catches Corleone Jr. right on the button with a cross.
Ngirente throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ngirente will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Corleone Jr. connects with an inside leg kick.

Sonny Corleone Jr.'s cut is getting worse.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ngirente ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Ngirente lands a head kick that bluckles Corleone Jr. and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Ngirente no doubt looking to push for a finish!

Corleone Jr. definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Sonny Corleone Jr.'s cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Ngirente fails to land with a series of punches.
Corleone Jr. throws a jab when Ngirente was well out of range.
Ngirente misses with a two punch combination.
Corleone Jr. tried to counter with a leg kick but Ngirente avoided it.

A quick step to the side and Corleone Jr. tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ngirente's coach down at Essence Dive was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ngirente's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Corleone Jr. throws a hook to the side of Ngirente's head but Ngirente sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ngirente connects with a quick right hand that sends Corleone Jr. tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!

After winning the bout, Edouard Ngirente thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
