Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Gustafsson (ranked 6541 p4p, 5874 weight class) and Luis Santos (ranked 628 p4p, 589 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexander Gustafsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Santos!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gustafsson misses with a body kick.
Gustafsson sets himself, and Santos steps forward looking for the clinch! Gustafsson avoids it this time.

and Santos counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gustafsson!

Santos's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Santos remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Let's hope that Santos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Gustafsson tries to bench press Santos off him but Santos keeps the position.
The referee asks Santos politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Santos prefers to stall for the moment though.

Gustafsson pushes Santos away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Santos gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Santos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gustafsson's guard.

It looks like Santos might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
