Dooley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ortiz to the mat! Ortiz manages to get full guard.
Dooley throws a big right hand that misses.

Ortiz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Ortiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dooley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dooley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ortiz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dooley's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dooley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ortiz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Dooley is rocked!
It looks like Peanut Dooley has been cut.

Ortiz loads up on a big left hand. Dooley felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Ortiz looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Dooley can't hide his disappointment, as Ortiz celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Otto Ortiz!
Otto Ortiz was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
