PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Joesph (ranked 4467 p4p, 4455 weight class) and Ryan Seacrest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Seacrest!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seacrest fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joesph, pushing him back against the cage.

Joesph wants to take the fight to the mat but Seacrest manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Seacrest.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Seacrest tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Seacrest shoots in looking for a takedown. Joesph tries to sprawl out of it but Seacrest keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Joesph manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Joesph has a hand on Seacrest's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Seacrest takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Seacrest takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Seacrest throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Joesph because Seacrest loaded up on that one.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Seacrest thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Seacrest throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Joesph is fighting off a takedown attempt but Seacrest is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Joesph to the mat. Joesph regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Seacrest has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Joesph is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Joesph breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Seacrest will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Seacrest tries to close the distance and clinch but Joesph swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Seacrest tries to score a power double leg takedown but Joesph sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Seacrest somewhat.

Joesph is trying to drag Seacrest to the mat but Seacrest just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Seacrest fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Seacrest is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Ryan Seacrest showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Seacrest drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Joesph dives on top into guard.

Joesph had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Seacrest defends it easily.
Joesph looking to hit a scissor sweep but Seacrest is one step ahead there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Seacrest sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Joesph's guard.

Joesph holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Seacrest thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jesus Joesph has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ryan Seacrest is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jesus Joesph.
I think Seacrest has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
