Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bea Mason (ranked 5226 p4p, 6506 weight class) and Emanuel Rodrigez (ranked 537 p4p, 627 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bea Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emanuel Rodrigez! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rodrigez napping and manages to drive through into side control! Rodrigez wants to get back to his feet. Mason throws an elbow but Rodrigez slips to the side and avoids it well. Rodrigez wants to control but Mason postures up. Mason thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Rodrigez tries to buck Mason off but Mason is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mason throwing shots but missing, from side control. Rodrigez is not content to let Mason control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodrigez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mason wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mason misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ground and pound from Mason seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Mason is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rodrigez has escaped the position, nice work there. Mason is looking to take a break and control but Rodrigez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rodrigez trying to control but Mason flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason trying to control. Mason looking for the RNC. Rodrigez looking very determined here, making life difficult for Mason.
Mason looking to break Rodrigez's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Rodrigez remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Mason will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Mason has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Mason misses with a punch to the head. Mason working for the choke. Mason is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rodrigez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodrigez finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes. Mason content just to control the position here. Rodrigez's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Mason unloads with some shots from mount but Rodrigez bucks and avoids them well.
Mason trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mason sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mason tries to control but Rodrigez wriggling away. Mason thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Mason misses with a head shot. Mason thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Rodrigez avoids a series of strikes thrown by Mason.
Mason can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rodrigez is looking to escape. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rodrigez somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bea Mason dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Rodrigez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mason paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rodrigez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Mason fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rodrigez fails with a takedown attempt. Rodrigez tries for a takedown but Mason circles away easily and Mason counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Mason is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rodrigez can do to turn this around? Mason goes for a double leg but Rodrigez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rodrigez continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bea Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mason escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodrigez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rodrigez dives in and grabs Mason's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mason pushes down on Rodrigez's head and hops out. Mason moves into the clinch. Mason has Rodrigez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rodrigez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Rodrigez is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mason is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodrigez content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Mason jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rodrigez walks away with a smile on his face. Mason gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Mason bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Mason is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rodrigez has escaped the position, nice work there. Mason sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rodrigez is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Bea Mason overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rodrigez can't do much from the bottom here. Mason tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mason has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason tries for a kimura but Rodrigez is defending well. Mason wants to control but Rodrigez is keeping him busy. Mason wants to stand but Rodrigez is controlling his arm. Mason in the domination position with Rodrigez hanging on. Rodrigez is continuing to stall. Mason wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rodrigez keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodrigez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mason. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You can see the frustration on Rodrigez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mason has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mason has hold of Rodrigez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Rodrigez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mason cranks the arm and Rodrigez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Rodrigez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
