The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mia avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Brightblade. Those never looked like landing.
Mia seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Brightblade lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mia circles away quickly and effectively.
Brightblade looks to land a combination but Mia avoids it well.

You can see the frustration on Brightblade's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mia has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mia has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Brightblade.
Mia drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brightblade has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mia can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mia is really struggling to control Brightblade but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mia is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Brightblade has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Brightblade is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Mia off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Damian Mia overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mia is not going to allow Brightblade to sit and survive in this position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mia got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brightblade has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mia has managed to get both his arms back between Brightblade's legs - danger averted.
