Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darwin Zambrano (ranked 2325 p4p, 24203 weight class) and Colten Currie (ranked 295 p4p, 683 weight class). Darwin Zambrano is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darwin Zambrano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Colten Currie!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zambrano throws the kick towards the body but Currie avoids it.
It seemed like Currie was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A nice leg kick from Zambrano, right into the meat of the thigh.
Zambrano looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Zambrano ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Zambrano no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Currie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Currie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Currie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Zambrano is proving hard to escape from.

Currie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zambrano has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Currie has managed to get both his arms back between Zambrano's legs - danger averted.

Zambrano shoots in looking for a takedown but Currie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Zambrano's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Currie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

It seemed like Currie was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Zambrano cracks Currie with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

enabling Currie to counter with a crisp jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Zambrano throws a hook to the side of Currie's head but Currie sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Currie has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Zambrano is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Currie goes for a takedown attempt but Zambrano pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Darwin Zambrano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colten Currie.
Zambrano tries to score a power double leg takedown but Currie sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zambrano somewhat.

Zambrano tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Currie was well out of range. Poor timing from Zambrano.
Currie stuffs the takedown attempt from Zambrano. Zambrano gets slowly back to his feet.
Currie's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Zambrano tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Currie is able to avoid easily.
Currie avoids the head kick by Zambrano.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Currie! But no joy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Zambrano moves into range and clinches up with Currie.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Zambrano.
Currie stalling in the clinch but Zambrano improves position.

Currie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Zambrano shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Currie as he jumps to the side.

Darwin Zambrano is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Zambrano misses with a series of wild punches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Currie tries to keep at a distance but Zambrano has taken the fight into the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Darwin Zambrano.
Well Zambrano has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
