PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tim Douglas (ranked 5798 p4p, 6121 weight class) and Michael Scott (ranked 447 p4p, 456 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Douglas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Scott!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott moves out of range as Douglas strikes.

Scott shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Douglas napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Scott stands up.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt.
Douglas is looking for a counter combo.

Scott closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Scott lands in his opponent's guard.
Douglas looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Scott puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Douglas is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Hotrod Express MMA Training that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Douglas is looking to improve his position.
Douglas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scott on the ground.
Scott thows a huge punch but Douglas dodges it nicely.
Scott is thwarting Douglas's attempts to control the position.
Douglas blocking the ground and pound attempt from Scott.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Scott in particular looking to stall.
Scott's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Douglas wants to improve his position but Scott is controlling well.
Scott perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Douglas trying to control from the bottom.
It looks like Scott is going to stand back up.
Scott controlling the action here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Scott shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Douglas pinned against the cage. Douglas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott shoots for a double leg takedown but Douglas sprawls well. He's pushed Scott's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tim Douglas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Scott.
Douglas dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Scott. That did some damage!
Douglas throws a hook to the side of Scott's head but Scott sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Scott shoots for a takedown but Douglas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Scott keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Douglas.
Scott takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Scott closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Douglas did well to prevent Scott getting side control.
Douglas is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Scott jumps into side control!
Douglas is not content to let Scott control the position.

Scott looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Scott tries to score with some ground and pound. Douglas controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Scott sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Douglas is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Douglas being controlled for a moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Douglas is looking to reverse the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Scott dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Douglas throws a right hand that misses

and Scott counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Douglas is looking for a sweep. Scott is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Michael Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.

Scott is looking for a kimura but Douglas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Scott to get the leverage.
Scott with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Douglas has a hand on Scott's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Scott takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Douglas tries to improve his position but instead Scott has taken his back!
Scott controls the action.
Scott controlling well, preventing Douglas from escaping the position.

Scott sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Douglas taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Michael Scott!
Michael Scott tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
